The island is mostly rainforest, home to various species of monkeys, monitor lizards and colorful birds, among others. In the heart of the island is the highest point of the island, Gunung Raya. If you like hiking, you can experience the wild jungle along the way, preferably with a guide. For a great view over the island and the Andaman Sea, the imposing Sky Bridge in the northwest. The footbridge winds over the mountains and the jungle of the island. In the north are also the most beautiful beaches of the island, such as Tanjung Rhu Beach or Datai Bay. Mangrove areas with rivers also characterize the island, for example on the east coast. More touristy is the southeast coast with hotels, but also restaurants and corresponding infrastructure. In Pulau Payar Marine Park, divers and snorkelers will find interesting spots. On the island of Dayang Bunting, which means pregnant virgin, there is a freshwater lake where you can also swim. Langkawi is more touristy than the Tioman Islands on the east coast, but not overcrowded. Moreover, there are more restaurants and bars in Langkawi.
