Travel, activities and discoveries for your yacht charter vacation
To Tonga one can fly for example via New Zealand, Australia or the USA. Partly connecting flights from there depart only once a week, so the connection should be well planned. International flights land at the airport near Nuku'alofa on the main island of Tongatapu. North of the airport is also our starting point, Marina Fangafoa. Here you will find stores, banks, restaurants and bars near the city center.
North of Tongatapu is the Ha'apai archipelago, with secluded beaches that are great for relaxing and diving and snorkeling. On Uiha you can see burial sites of the royal family in the form of pyramids.
Vava'u is the northern group of the island state and at the same time the name of their main island with the capital Neiafu. Here you will find safe anchorages in beautiful bays and short strokes to the nearest islands. For divers, the islands offer great coral reefs, drop-offs, caves and fascinating caverns. There are also perfect wind conditions for surfers. The clear water and the variety of corals and fish are ideal for snorkeling fans. In the period from June to November you can even watch humpback whales off the island of Vaka'eitu. Taunga Atoll, with its picturesque white sand beaches and colorful coral reefs, is a jewel of the island chain. Maninita Island is home to a true birdwatcher's paradise, and the surrounding coral reefs are also just right for nature lovers.
Culinary wise, you should not miss a traditional Tongan banquet, which is offered several times a week.
