Families with less time and less sailing experience are also thought of: Take the opportunity to book only one of the two weeks of the flotilla or travel on board experienced sailors to be gripped by the passion for sailing and learn the first moves.
Starting from Biograd, the first week takes you along the Krka route, past the Krka waterfalls, to Split. The second week will take you back to the starting port in Biograd along the Kornati route. During the flotilla there is a possibility to arrange common meeting points and activities for evening entertainment on a voluntary basis. Daily games in the harbor make the family-friendly cruise a colorful experience without boredom even for the smallest passengers.
Arrival to Biograd is independent, participants take over their yachts there on 28/07. On the evening of arrival the flotilla leader (Kai Helms, see below) will present the exact route, answer last questions and give useful tips about regional specialities.
Details of the sailing route should only be determined in mutual consultation and can also be planned individually or in smaller groups. However, taking into account the number of participating yachts and the weather conditions, the following ports or bays are fixed as ports of call in the first weeks due to their sightseeing:
At the beginning of the tour the focus of the program is on getting to know each other and improving sailing skills. Sports and games will ensure that especially the younger passengers will not get bored. For all the older ones, there will always be an opportunity along the route to take a detour to a local bar or disco. In this respect, too, the balance between relaxing tranquility and exciting experiences should be maintained.
The return trip takes the family flotilla along the Kornati route in the middle of the Kornati Islands to the island of Žut and the salt lake Telascica. Anchoring in a bay at this lake, at the foot of a 50m high cliff, is the highlight of the route. The arrangement of the remaining days is to take place locally in consultation with the participants. In addition to the consideration to be given to the conditions, space should be left here for ideas, wishes and suggestions. The following places represent the respective daily stage destinations:
For the youngest travelers there is an age-appropriate program. Depending on their mood, they can participate in the extraordinary and varied sports program (water and ball games of all kinds). In addition, the flotilla leader has prepared quiz games and spontaneous theater, as well as a treasure hunt, which will provide a bit of competition between the participants.
The flotilla leader's boat, which will be introduced to you in more detail below, will be available throughout the cruise as a contact point for questions and suggestions.
Some program items for the younger participants have already been mentioned above. Here again is an overview of what awaits junior flotilla passengers:
Kai Helms is 38 years old and a native of Bremen.
He has been sailing for about 6 years on various types of boats and waters. His first trip was with a Dyas on the Weser. Apart from Lake Dümmer, where Kai now sails regularly, he has sailed on the Danish South Sea, the North Sea, the Ijselmeer and off the German Baltic coast. Together with his participation in Rund Bornholm 2010 and the German Championship of Ocean Sailing 2010 and 2011, as well as family cruises in Croatia, he has accumulated a total of 4500 nm of experience.
Although, of course, each of the participating ships acts on his own responsibility and sufficient sailing knowledge must be available to enjoy the Adriatic Sea with a clear conscience even with very young passengers, Kai Helms is nevertheless always available for advice and assistance.

If the presented family flotilla fits into your concept of a relaxing, balanced and unique family vacation, or if you should be interested in sailing on one of the ships, you can easily request more information here without obligation.
Can I sign up as a skipper for the flotilla?
Yes, very gladly. Please contact us so that we can discuss some details together in advance.
Can I participate without sailing experience?
Yes. While there must be sufficient sailing experience on each participating vessel, especially to make a vacation with children safe, there is still an opportunity for those without sailing experience to sail on an experienced vessel. So this is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the sport and learn the first moves directly in practice.
Can I sail my own route during the day?
Yes, if there is a unanimous wish to deviate from the common daily route on a ship, this is possible without further ado. The destination of the day, if not already set, is agreed upon each morning at a short meeting of the ship's representatives. So it is not difficult to return to the company of the flotilla in the evening after an individual day trip.
Can I sail on only one of the two routes?
Yes, families with a limited budget or time do not have to give up their sailing experience. If you wish, you can also book only one of the two sailing weeks, i.e. either the route from Split to Biograd or vice versa. Please contact us.
Are the travel costs to Croatia included?
No. The charter price refers only to the period between arrival and departure at the port of departure or destination (Split or Biograd, depending on whether one week or two weeks are booked). The arrival and departure to and from the marina must be organized by yourself. However, there is definitely the possibility to use the flotilla advantage here as well, and to coordinate with other participants in advance.
Does the flotilla cost more than a normal charter?
No. You do not pay extra for the organization and management of the flotilla and the related entertainment program. The flotilla leader has put together this offer for the joy of sailing with the family, in order to introduce others to the fascination of this form of vacation. There are no additional costs compared to a normal charter.
Can I also participate with my private yacht or yacht not chartered with 1a?
Yes, everyone can join. In this case, however, a fee of 300 EUR (or 150 EUR per week) must be paid.
Can I leave the flotilla if I change my plans?
Yes. If you find along the way that you would rather continue the route (or an alternative) on your own, you can leave the flotilla group at any time. This is, of course, provided that (especially in the case of composite crews) all passengers on the ship agree on this point.
