Yacht charter Antigua and Barbuda

The islands of Antigua and Barbuda are part of the Leeward Islands and the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. They are located north of Guadeloupe and form an own island state, but still belong to the Commonwealth. In addition to these two main islands, some smaller islands belong to the state, such as Redonda, Green Island and Guinea Island.
To enter the country, German citizens need a passport that is still valid for at least 6 months beyond the trip, as well as onward or return tickets. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days. Further and current information can be found on the website of the German Foreign Office.
The official language of the two islands is English, and the currency in use is the Eastern Caribbean dollar.

Arrival, activities and discoveries for your yacht charter vacation

You can reach Antigua and Barbuda by direct flights from Frankfurt am Main, the flight duration is about 10 hours. You will land at the international airport in the northeast of the island of Antigua, not far from Saint John's, the capital. In the city you can shop duty-free and for the evening bars and restaurants offer nightlife.

In the port of Jolly Harbour in the west of Antigua you can start your yacht charter vacation with us. Here you find various shopping opportunities and restaurants as well as golf courses and beaches. The two islands offer many natural harbors where you can drop anchor while enjoying the beautiful scenery, e.g. the English Harbour in the south of the island, which is a popular meeting point for sailors.
In addition to natural harbors, there are of course many beaches, lagoons and coral reefs, such as Cades Reef in the southwest of Antigua, which is a great address for snorkelers. Divers can not only discover animals here, but also old shipwrecks.
Also on land there are many sights worth seeing for yacht charterers like the natural monument Devil's Bridge in the east of the island. Here the force of the Atlantic has formed arches in the limestone rocks and created a special coastline. You can learn about the colonial past at the 17th-century Betty's Hope sugar cane plantation or see Victorian buildings in Saint John's.

While Antigua, like many of the Caribbean islands, was formed by volcanic activity, the neighboring island of Barbuda is the surface of a coral reef and therefore offers very good diving and snorkeling. Here you will find special beaches, like Pink Sand Beach, and solitude due to little tourism. But before the trip you should supply yourself properly, also with water, because the possibilities here are very meager. A good part of the island is the bird sanctuary, where you can see frigate birds, for example.

In April, the Antigua Sailing Week is held annually, an international Caribbean regatta where different races are held every day for a week, for example from Guadeloupe to English Harbour or around Antigua.
