Aarhus is one of the oldest cities in Northern Europe. It is located in a bay south of the Kattegatt. In addition to destinations such as the island of Samsø and the Kattegatt itself, Aarhus is also a good starting point for a longer Törn to the Swedish west coast.

Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark with 242,914 inhabitants. The city has a university since 1928, versatile industry and a seaport in the Kattegat. The town at the mouth of the River Au, as indicated by its name, has been inhabited since the Viking Age. New excavations in Aarhus revealed that the city was founded around 770. According to this, Aarhus is one of the oldest cities in Northern Europe. In 1960, Aarhus was awarded the Europe Prize for its outstanding efforts towards European integration.

Worth seeing are the open-air museum Den Gamle By, Aarhus Cathedral with its high altar and the tombs and epitaphs of Thomas Quellinus, whose roots go back to 1201, St. Mary's Church with its crypt, the Botanical Garden, and the City Hall from 1941 with its 60-meter bell tower. The Dukketeater Svalegangen is Denmark's only professional paper theater. The extensive park with its two lakes in the middle is a popular summer destination for all Aarhusians. South of the city is the Moesgård Museum. Also worth mentioning is Marselisborg Castle, located in the southwest of the city, which serves as the residence of the royal family in the summer. When the queen is present, the impressive parade for the changing of the guard takes place every day at twelve o'clock. The park around the castle can be visited free of charge when the royal family is not present.

By far the largest city in Jutland, Aarhus is an important transportation center. For example, the main Danish railroad runs from Frederikshavn to Aarhus via Aalborg and on to Copenhagen via Fredericia and Odense. Since December 9, 2007, Aarhus has been directly integrated into the German ICE network with a connection to Berlin via Hamburg with one train daily. The regional airport of Aarhus is located about 36 km from Aarhus in Tirstrup. The port is among the larger in Denmark for both cargo and ferry traffic.

The harbor has 330 boat berths, fresh water and electricity on the bridges,toilets and bathrooms, restaurants, an ice cream kiosk, barbecue and play areas and a supermarket. From the harbor you can walk to the center of Aarhus and the forest "Riis Skov". This forest is one of the preferred destinations for walkers and joggers in Aarhus. The cathedral and the center can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot. Bathing establishment and the 1.5 km long bathing beach are located a few minutes away in the northern direction of the marina. Places for guests are plentiful during the vacation season. Two sailing clubs and a motorboat club have their clubhouses in the marina. At the end of the harbor there is a slipway and a store for ship equipment. There is a section for museum ships, and fresh and smoked fish are offered in the fishing harbor.
