Yacht charter Finland

Finland, like its two neighbors Sweden and Norway, has a large amount of coastline. It stretches along the Gulf of Finland in an east-west direction and along the Gulf of Bothnia from north to south. More than 73,000 islands and archipelagos are scattered here and the inner archipelagos, such as Storlandet and Lillelandet, are sheltered from stronger winds by the outer ones.

Sailing in the land of thousands of islands with a yacht charter Finland

Finland is not only the land of a thousand lakes, but also has an incredible number of islands. Especially in the southwestern tip of the country many of them are located close to each other. Nowhere else in the world are so many islands located next to each other as in the Archipelago Sea off Turku. Here are also some of Finland's oldest cities with once or still important harbors. Some of the old wooden houses are still preserved and colorfully painted. Like in the village of Naantali, not far from Turku, which was built around a monastery in the Middle Ages. Today's wooden houses, however, date from the 18th/19th centuries. The town is also known for its spa and has an amusement park based around the world of mummins by author Tove Jansson. In front of Naantali lies the Finnish Archipelago Sea. Here is also our base Taalintehdas, where you can find more information about the Archipelago Sea. From here you can also visit the Åland archipelago. The 6000 islands form an autonomous region in Finland.

Other archipelagos include the Kotka arch ipelago, located east of Helsinki in the Gulf of Finland. Part of the 400 islands belongs to a national park and those who are looking for a vacation in nature will find their happiness here. An archipelago of several hundred islands also lies directly in front of the capital Helsinki. The Suomenlinna Fortress is a popular destination here. It also tells the eventful history of Finland under the occupation of neighboring countries such as Sweden and Russia. North in the Gulf of Bothnia, the Kvarken archipelago was created during the Ice Age. The islands invite visitors to hike with their lush fauna and flora. On one of the islands of the archipelago there is a lighthouse designed by Henry LePaute, who collaborated with Gustave Eiffel. The mosaic archipelago is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Without a doubt, the nature is captivating on all archipelagos. Some of the islands belong to national parks. The forests reach down to the coast and even on some small archipelagos trees grow. The cuisine is accordingly characterized by the forest with berries, mushrooms and game and of course on the coast of fish and the neighboring countries of Sweden and Russia. Also a traditional sauna session should be included on a trip in Finland.
