Yacht charter Greifswald

Greifswald is located in the northeast of Germany in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 1250, the town on the river Ryck has had city rights. With its location on the mainland between the islands of Rügen in the north and Usedom in the south, the city had great economic importance early on and belonged to the Hanseatic League. Even today, one can sense the importance and wealth of the city by strolling along the historic buildings. The market square is impressive by its size alone. The painter Caspar David Friedrich visited the city in 1818 and immortalized the marketplace in a view with part of the 13th century town hall in a watercolor. Besides the town hall in typical brick Gothic style, the colorful facades of the medieval burghers' houses and the residential warehouses are impressive. Even today, classical markets are held on the market. A large number of cafés offer the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere and colorful life. Greifswald is not located directly on the Baltic Sea, but on the so-called Greifswalder Bodden.

How to get there: Greifswald is well connected to the highway network and can be easily reached via the A20 from both Berlin and Hamburg. Likewise with the course the journey does not represent any problems.

Good sailing conditions also for sailing novices

1 week: Greifswald-Stralsund-Lauterbach-Seedorf-Peenemünde-Lubmin

For a one-week sailing trip, those looking for peace and quiet and those new to sailing will find an excellent sailing area in the Greifswalder Bodden. You start from Greifswald towards the north and have the island of Rügen in your sights. The small town of Putbus with its popular marina in the district of Lauterbach was the first seaside resort on the island of Rügen in 1818. The town offers a nice cultural program with its theater and the orangery and while walking through the historic town center you can feel the lifestyle of past times. The traditional train "Der rasende Roland" also departs from here. The historic narrow-gauge railroad has been running the route Putbus to Göhren on the Mönchgut peninsula since 1899. The Mönchgut peninsula in the southeast of the island separates the Greifswald Bodden from the Baltic Sea. The landscape reflects the original character of Rügen. Slightly undulating meadows and pastures lie on the land, which in part slopes steeply down to the sea, and in part is formed by sandy beaches. The island of Vilm is part of the biosphere reserve of southeast Rügen and it is not allowed to visit it. If you still want to visit the island, you can do so on a guided excursion from Lauterbach. Another island in the Greifswald Bodden is the island of Ruden. Unfortunately, this island is also not privately accessible. Here, too, the original natural landscape with sand dunes and dune forests and important resting place for bird migration can only be reached by a guided boat tour from Peenemünde.

Who would like to undertake in one week longer strokes, which makes itself from Greifswald on round Rügen. Also around Usedom via the Peenestrom, the Achterwasser and the Stettiner Haff is doable in one week.

If you prefer something more sporty - from Greifswald to Denmark or Sweden.

2 weeks: Greifswald-Sassnitz-Rønne-Nexo-Gudjhem-Allinge-Kåseberga-Ystad-Trelleborg-Klintholm-Hiddensee-Altefähr-Lauterbach-Greifswald

Greifswald is a popular starting port if you want to sail towards Bornholm. Before you start towards Bornholm, you should keep a close eye on the weather forecasts. From Sassnitz on the coast of Usedom it is "only" 54 nautical miles. So why not sail a little more relaxed and make an intermediate stop at the coast of Usedom. With its seaside resort architecture, the Jasmund Nature Park and the chalk cliffs, Sassnitz has plenty to offer for an eventful afternoon ashore. After a day on the Baltic Sea, you can reach Bornholm in the ports of Nørrekas or Rønne. To circumnavigate Bornholm would take about 3 to 4 days. From Allinge on Bornholm to Sweden, for example Kåseberga or Ystad, it is between 30 and 40 nautical miles. From here would be another long blow with 40 nautical miles to Trelleborg with the famous Viking Museum. Or you can make a stop in Klintholm, Denmark, to shorten the trip to the German coast and reach Hiddensee in two days. Now finish your cruise along the coast of Rügen and explore the popular German vacation island from the water before returning to Greifswald.

The possibilities for your cruise from Greifswald are manifold. Another German vacation island is Usedom. Here, too, many varied cruises can be arranged. Moreover, the island is considered to be the sunniest in Germany, making it a perfect destination for your next summer vacation at sea!
