Historic cities, modern spirit and a lot of nature in the beautiful Baltic States on a yacht charter Estonia

In the area of the Gulf of Finland steady winds prevail and the sailing area is well suited for beginners. Due to Estonia's location in the Baltic Sea the tidal range is also considerably lower. On the coast, flat areas alternate with beaches and cliffs, as well as wooded areas. Those who like mild summers can spend them here on beautiful beaches. Here beaches and bays are not crowded as in the south. Compared to other European countries, Estonia is not very populated and is still being discovered as a tourist destination. Therefore, you can expect a lot of nature, especially abundant forests. The cuisine of the country is also characterized by this and the typical dishes revolve around various local mushrooms, berries and herbs. Meanwhile, restaurants with local interpretations are among the top restaurants of the Nordic cuisine.

Our base for Estonia and the Baltic States is in the capital Tallinn. You should immerse yourself in this exciting city. It is easy to explore on foot and the well-preserved old town from the Middle Ages and creative districts like Kalamaja or Telliskivi reflect the beautiful mix of history and modern awakening. Once you've set sail, there are over 2000 islands to visit off Estonia's coast. And not far from the mainland, so there are only short distances to travel between each of them. Most of them are uninhabited. Saaremaa is the largest island with the capital Kuressaare, here you can find many wellness facilities, so if you like you can relax here first after exploring the city. The windmills of Angla were built at the beginning of the last century, and there are also bunkers from the last world war. A special feature is the meteorite crater of Kaali, which is over 7000 years old and one of the largest meteorite craters on earth. The cliffs of Panga are about 30 meters high. They look especially beautiful at sunset, when the white rock reflects the colors of the sun. The smaller neighboring island of Muhu can be explored by bike. It is also known for its beautiful handicrafts and colorful embroidery on clothes and accessories. Not far away is also the second largest island of the country, Hiiumaa. Its trademark are the many lighthouses. Worth seeing are especially the lighthouses of Köpu, Ristna and Tahkuna. If you want to experience traditional life, you should dock at the island of Kihnu. Here you can see traditional costumes on the inhabitants, how they fish, do handicrafts and celebrate traditional festivals.

If you have longer time, you can also include Finland in your cruise and visit its capital Helsinki. Or head west to the other two Baltic states, Latvia and Lithuania. Here, for example, the Curonian Spit is worth seeing. On the peninsula, which is partly a national park, there are beautiful dune landscapes and excavations from the Viking Age, as well as sights such as Thomas Mann's summer house and an amber museum. A beautiful mixture of nature and culture, which can also be easily discovered by bike.
