Tallinn is our base for a cruise through the beautiful Baltic States. About one third of the country's 1.3 million inhabitants live here. You should take your time to visit the city. In the old town there are still many houses from the Middle Ages, which is why it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is surrounded by a city wall with over 25 defense towers. Since the Middle Ages, the Danes, Swedes, Germans and Russians have taken over the city and left their influences. Gothic churches, houses from the Hanseatic period and Soviet architecture form a colorful mix. Tallinn is easy to explore on foot, nothing is really far away and the city is also nice and green. But not everything here is just historic, the old factory buildings and houses are enlivened by a young active cultural scene. Start-ups, stores, cafés, studios, galleries and theaters gather in creative districts like Telliskivi or Kalamaja.
Those interested in historic ships have the chance to see old ships, yachts and boats from Estonia, Finland and Sweden at the Maritime Days in Tallinn in the summer. Part of the festival is also a regatta as well as concerts and workshops.
