Yacht charter Kröslin
Your yacht charter Kröslin will take you to the northern end of the Peenestrom. Embedded in the nature reserve of the surrounding Bodden landscape with a view of the opposite northern tip of Usedom, here you have the prospect of a relaxing vacation on the water and on land. Already in 1228 the place, still under the name "Crasselin" was mentioned in a document as a harbor place. The stream itself has been made navigable by a navigation channel and is well buoyed in its entirety. Why don't you start from Kröslin on a cruise around Usedom. Passing the Peene Bridge in Wolgast, "the gate to Usedom", you will reach the Achterwasser soon after the town, which is famous for its historic old town. This lagoon landscape, popular with sailors and surfers, offers plenty of opportunities to go ashore with the harbors in Krummin, Netzelkow, Zinnowitz, Stagnieß and the moorings in Balmer See. But the Achterwasser also offers beautiful moorings away from the marinas. The small village of Krummin with its natural harbor invites you to review the impressions of the day in one of the garden restaurants. Or you can explore the hinterland of the island of Usedom by bike. The small village of Karnin is a special attraction for railroad enthusiasts, as the remains of a railroad lift bridge from 1933 are located here, which was the most modern of its kind in Europe at that time. From here on you sail in the Szczecin Lagoon. The inner coastal waters offer a variety of activities. The water is particularly shallow in the shore area and the temperature is always about 2 to 3 degrees above the water temperature of the Baltic Sea, which is why the Szczecin Lagoon is especially popular with kite and wind surfers. On the lagoon you may also encounter one of the traditional Zeesen boats, usually equipped with brown sails. These original, wide-hulled fishing boats, which have been used for fishing in the Bodden waters since the end of the 15th century, have been included in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list since 2018. Regattas are also based in the area of the lagoon, such as the annual Haffsail Regatta in Ueckermünde. Even apart from the regatta, the town offers many opportunities for an eventful day ashore with its lido, the old town with the Pomeranian Residence Castle and a zoo. Via the Kanał Piastowski, also known as the Kaiserkanal, you reach Swinemünde (Swinoujscie in Polish). Formerly the third largest seaside resort in Germany after Kühlungsborn and Kolberg, Swinoujscie has belonged to Poland since 1945. However, since 2008 it has been possible to enter the town without clearing in and out. The town is spread over the northeastern tip of the island of Usedom and the island of Wollin. These two parts are separated by the Swine River. From here you can travel along the east coast of the island of Usedom along fine sandy beaches or towards the Polish Baltic coast.
Past some history on to Rügen
Also worthwhile is a start from Kröslin directly north. Run across the Greifswalder Bodden to the historic city of Greifswald. Stroll past the old warehouses and across the market square to the famous red town hall, whose foundation dates back to the 14th century. Greifswald Cathedral and St. Mary's Parish Church, both cultural monuments of national importance, are popular sights not only for lovers of sacred architecture. On high holidays you should not miss the chimes of the cathedral. Since 2000, the Pomeranian State Museum in Greifswald has once again housed original works by the important early romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich, who was born in Greifswald in 1774. The nearby island of Rügen can also be found in his paintings and drawings. It offers a varied natural landscape on its almost 600 kilometers of coastline. Of course, it is particularly famous for its chalk cliffs and the Kaiserstuhl, located between Sassnitz and Glowe in the Jasmund National Park. Not only ornithologists appreciate the smallest national park in Germany because of its richness of species in a unique natural landscape.
Are you intrigued by the northern part of the island in particular or would you like to explore the Swedish or Danish coastline during your yacht charter? Then why not start your journey in Breege or Barth.
