Yacht charter Breege

The old fishing village of Breege, which is also accessible by train and bus, is located on the Wittow peninsula on Germany's largest island of Rügen. The center of the village is without a doubt the venerable Breege harbor, which today shines in new splendor and yet still retains the typical charm of an old fishing port. The thatched old captain's houses from the 18th and 19th centuries are still standing in the village. The old fishing boats bobbing in the gentle waves, as well as the wonderful smell of freshly smoked goods, make you want to go on a sailing vacation. In the surrounding area, idyllic waterscapes of Breeger Börde and the sporting expanses of the Baltic Sea combine to create a diverse region perfect for a yacht charter vacation.

How to get there: You can reach the island by car via the A20 Baltic Sea freeway via Stralsund and from here via the Rügen Bridge. In the summer months the island is a popular destination. Therefore, there may be waiting times. A railroad line also leads to Rügen, this uses the old Rügen dam located next to the bridge. To support car traffic, there is also the Stahlbrode-Glewitz car ferry, which runs daily from April to October.

On a yacht charter Breege around Rügen

1 week: Breege - Vitte - Stralsund - Greifswald - Seedorf - Ruden (with Greifswalder Oie) - Glowe - Breege

The yacht harbor Breege offers itself for a weekend or also one-week cruise around Rügen. From here you can explore the distinctive landscape of the island, characterized by the wide sea, steep shores and coastal vegetation.

At Cape Arkona, the North Cape of Germany, you can visit the remains of the rampart of the legendary temple castle Arkona and the historic beacon with the Schinkel lighthouse. The best view of the cape is from the sea. Although not as high as other chalk cliffs, the white coastline rises to a height of 45 meters and already impressed Caspar David Friedrich, who immortalized it in 1818 in his painting "Chalk cliffs on Rügen".

The nearby fishing village of Vitt, a protected monument, attracts visitors with its picturesque architecture that has been preserved in its original form. In the southeast of the island, the town of Sellin is worth a visit. The local pier is the longest bridge on the island and the diving gondola offers the possibility to visit the seabed without getting wet.
