Also inviting for a visit is the spectacular Balos Lagoon near Kissamos, which can only be reached by boat. For nature lovers, Elafonisi is a must. The place is known for its pink sand and promises paradisiacal flair.
In the picturesque town of Paleochora you will find peace and quiet on idyllic beaches and can go on excellent hiking tours. The traditional fishing village of Agia Galini, which has become a popular tourist destination, also attracts visitors with its unique charm.

The Cretan coastline allows for a varied sailing experience. Crete is located in the southern foothills of Meltemis and in the summer months there can be some strong winds. Therefore, sailing here is recommended to more experienced sailors. However, beginners can also experience the beauty of Greece from the water. The Ionian Sea is considered as a beginner's area and offers attractive starting points such as the islands of Lefkada and Corfu from which worthwhile destinations can be reached in short distances.
