Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles, is the starting point for a trip to the inner islands of the dreamlike Seychelles archipelago: coral reefs for diving and snorkeling, a variety of palm beaches for sunbathing and swimming, and bizarre rocky cliffs with rainforest and unique fauna and flora. An alternative port of departure for the northern islands is Praslin.

The Seychelles is an area for experienced sailors with further distances between islands, remote anchorages and challenging winds. For fans of blue water sailing this is the right place. The islands are also among the best diving and snorkeling spots in the world. Nature lovers will find a great diversity of fauna and flora, including endemic species, on and around the islands.

Mahé is the largest of the Seychelles ' 115 islands and its main island. It is home to the majority of the Seychelles' population. It is home to the international airport, not far from the capital city of Victoria, which is also home to Eden Island Marina, where most yachtsmen start their cruises. In Victoria visit one of the colorful markets where you will find local produce and plenty of supplies not found on the other mainly smaller islands.

Starting point is the marina Eden Island on the northeast side. The man-made island is connected to Mahé by a bridge. The marina is located halfway from the airport to the capital Victoria, both about 5 kilometers away. It is open all year round and is designed to provide sheltered moorings at all times of the year. Shopping and loads can be transported to the yachts by small electric and luggage trolleys. Other services include showers, ATM, laundry, swimming pool and 24-hour surveillance.

Mahé is surrounded by smaller islands such as Sainte Anne, Île au Cerf, Île Longue, Moyenne, Conception, Thérèse and Île aux Vaches. They are located not far from the marina and some of them belong to the Sainte Anne National Park. On the islands, you can discover endemic plants and animals while hiking, and all around, the reefs are a popular spot for snorkeling and diving.

As you circumnavigate Mahé, you'll encounter beautiful anchorages like Anse Major on the west coast with verdant surroundings. Baie Ternay Marine Park on the western tip of the island is also a popular snorkeling spot. With over 65 beaches, Mahé leaves nothing to be desired for sunbathing and swimming, such as in the northwest at Beau Vallon, which also offers good conditions for surfing and diving, and in the south bays like Port Launey and Anse La Mouche. There are also numerous hiking trails through forests with a variety of flora and fauna and the mountainous landscape offers beautiful views over the island.

On the neighboring island of La Silhouette, northwest of Mahé, you can hike through impressive primary forest and encounter the giant tortoises that still live here. In the interior of the island around the over 900 meter high mountain Morne Seychellois, the highest mountain in the Seychelles, lies the national park of the same name, whose slopes are covered by dense rainforest. Here you can walk through mangrove forests and uninhabited primary forest and also visit the tea factory there.

Another cruise destination can be, for example, Praslin, the second largest island of the Seychelles. It is also characterized by a unique endemic fauna and flora. Likewise the islands surrounding it Curieuse with its giant tortoises, La Digue with its postcard scenery of dream beaches and the bird islands Cousin and Aride.
