Yacht charter L'Estartit
The Costa Brava stretches from the French border over 200 km to Blanes. The starting marina L'Estartit is located approximately in the middle of the coastal strip and offers a lot of interesting entry points both in north and south direction. Marina Club Nautic Estartit is equipped with a restaurant, free Wi-Fi and a small supermarket. On request, a breakfast service "on board" completes the good basic offer. Directly from the marina you can access the Passeig Maritim, a palm-lined beach promenade, where several cafés, gelaterias and restaurants invite you to linger. In the city center you can pass the time with shopping and for the evening program some bars, discotheques and pubs are waiting for you.
Stable weather and moderate winds offer good sailing conditions in this area of the Costa Brava, even for beginners. A large number of moorings and modern harbors create short distances and a good infrastructure.
Diving and hiking in the Montgrí Nature Park
The hinterland offers a fantastic scenery for hiking trips or by bike. The nature park Montgrí and the Castell of the same name create a successful change to your vacation on the yacht. From the village of L'Estartit, the castle, which was built at the end of the 13th century and never completed, can be easily reached on foot or by bike. There is also a bus connection to a campsite near the castle. The fortified walls and the location of the castle are impressive. From the battlements you have a wide view over the coastal plain and the bay.
The nature park is divided into three areas, which encompass three very different landscapes. For birdwatchers, the area of the Baix Ter floodplain is particularly interesting, with its different species of waterfowl. The area of the Natural Park also includes a marine area that includes the underwater world of the offshore Medas Islands. Divers of different levels of experience can expect to find a surprisingly intact underwater system here, which unfortunately is otherwise rarely found on the northern coasts of the Mediterranean. The area is especially known for its large groupers. A varied experience is also offered by exploring the nature park or the beach on horseback. How about a ride to the beach at full moon to watch the starry sky? In L'Estartit there are providers who will make this possible for you.
In the footsteps of Dalí and the early history of the Costa Brava
From centrally located L'Estartit, the Costa Brava is open to you. You are spoilt for choice in which direction you turn: Towards the north, the Golf de Roses awaits you with its long sandy beach and good weather conditions for windsurfing and kite surfing. The town of Roses, at the northern end of the bay, has a long history of settlement. In the Parc Megalític de Roses you can visit impressive dolmens (burial structures made of large stone blocks) and menhirs (towering stone blocks), the earliest of which date to about 3000 BC. Not far away is the bay of Cadaqués on the Cap de Creus peninsula. On your way across the sea to the bay of Cadaqués there are several small bays with lonely beaches to stay. In the bay Cala Rostella you might see an octopus while snorkeling. Enjoy the view from the sea to the rocky coast of Cap Norfeu, a small peninsula not far from Roses which has its name from Greek mythology. According to legend, the gifted singer Orpheus sailed past here and sang so beautifully that the Pyrenees approached him from the mainland, lost his balance and plunged into the sea.
The village of Cadaqués is a worthwhile shore excursion. Here stands the former home of the surrealist Salvador Dalí. Like the painter himself, his house is extravagant. If you can't get any more tickets, you will also be enchanted by his garden. The painter's works of art can also be admired in the museum he designed in Figueres inland. Finally, you can stroll leisurely through the old town of Cadaqués, with its white houses and narrow streets, and get some refreshments.
Past castles, gardens and old fishing villages in the direction of Barcelona
Towards the south, no less destinations are waiting! Passing the Far de Sant Sebastià, a picturesquely situated lighthouse with a small bar attached, you set sail in the direction of Palamós. After Roses, this is the second largest fishing port in Catalonia. Worth a visit is the Fishery Museum which is located near the port and is the only museum in the Mediterranean that focuses on this theme. Before you reach the end of the Costa Brava on your yacht charter L'Estartit with Blanes, the small town Tossa de Mar with the fortress Muralla de la Vila Vella is waiting for you. The fortress from the late 12th century is still almost completely preserved in its original form. It is located on a small peninsula in front of the town and looks out over the sea. Blanes offers a worthwhile stopover, with its many cafes and restaurants serving typical Catalan cuisine and a beautiful old town. The botanical garden Marimurtra is located right next to the town and overlooks the sea. A good place to just relax and unwind. From here it is just over 30 nautical miles to Barcelona. So why not combine a relaxing yacht charter L'Estartit along the Costa Brava with a visit to the city rich in art, music and architecture.
