With a yacht charter Lanzarote to the island of the fire mountains
Lanzarote is of volcanic origin, which is still strongly reflected in the landscape. Whimsical lava formations and beaches that exist with black sand in addition to light sand, and sparse vegetation give the island an interesting and peculiar landscape. In Timanfaya National Park you are in the middle of a lunar landscape and the energy of the sub-surface volcanic heat is demonstrated here with artificial geysers and barbecues. The Montanas del Fuego, as a multitude of fire mountains are called, shine in different colors depending on the light. Accordingly, only a limited flora, such as succulents, finds its way on the lava soil. Aloe vera products are therefore a popular souvenir from the island. Wine growing is also widespread here and in small bodegas in the vineyards, such as in La Geria, you can enjoy good food and the special wine that is elaborately raised in wind-protected earthen caves. In the Salinas de Janubio salt is again produced with traditional methods and sold on site.

The most famous Lanzaroteño is the architect César Manrique. Inspired by the peculiar landscape, he designed homes and buildings in harmony with the forms of nature. For his residence he used the natural conditions and built the rooms in underground gas bubbles - elegantly and color-aesthetically furnished it resembles a small palace. You can find the residence under Fundación César Manriques. You can also experience his work in the water caves Jameos del Agua and the Mirador del Río as well as in the Jardín de Cactus. Concerts are also held in the Cueva de los Verdes, located near the Jameos. Due to Manrique's initiative, there are also no high hotel complexes on the island, but an orientation towards the traditional way of building.
The old capital Teguise in the interior of the island is also worth a visit. There is a weekly market here and the town has cafés, tapas bars and small shops in its narrow streets. Near the town also stands the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, a fortress that was supposed to protect against pirate raids. In it there is accordingly a pirate museum as well as exhibitions about emigrations in the history of the island. Today Arrecife, which is located by the sea, is the capital of the island. Here is also the airport and the marina Lanzarote.

Surfers gather at Playa de Famara in the northwest of the island, which also has a long sandy beach, but stronger swells. At Playa del golfo in the Timanfaya National Park, there's a beach with black sand, and behind it shines Lago Verde with its green waters. Lanzarote can not only be black, but also light with turquoise water. Sun worshippers head to Papagayo Beach, Playa Grande or Puerto del Carmen with its beach promenade and cafes and restaurants.
North of the island is the Chinijo Archipelago with the smallest inhabited island of the Canary Islands, La Graciosa, which can also be seen from the Mirador. Here is the beautiful harbor Caleto del Sebo, and the bay Playa Fansesa is nice for swimming. Other islands of the archipelago are the uninhabited Alegranza, Isla del Montaña Clara, Roque del Oeste and Roque del Este, which are protected and may not be entered.
On a cruise around Lanzarote you can also include the neighboring island of Fuerteventura with its long white beaches and the dunes of Coralejo and the cliffs of Ajuy.
