On the western coast of Turkey on the Peninsula of Cesme lies Alacati. From Izmir airport it takes about an hour to reach the town. In the small town Alacati things are still leisurely and traditional. The old town is a protected monument and exudes a shabby-chic charm. Walking through the alleys, you will pass restored stone houses that shine in bright colors and wooden doors painted in different colors and decorated with carvings. Flowers decorate the alleys. One can find small cafes, restaurants and boutiques. In the bazaars, also colorful, you can stock up on local products for the cruise.

Quiet bays, colorful villages and a lot of history on a yacht charter Alacati

Since the town is located somewhat inland, it is only a few kilometers to the sea and the marina. Moreover, enthusiasts of culinary delicacies will not be disappointed in Alacati as the level of quality outweighs the price. It was designed after the model of Port Grimaud in St. Tropez, in a lagoon style. From here you have a quiet starting point compared to the marinas in the more touristy south.
But not everything is antique and tranquil here. Because of the good wind conditions, the area has become a water sports hotspot, especially for windsurfers, since part of the World Cup has been held here regularly. You will find a suitable beach just south of the marina. For sailors, there is respect here.
Culinary delights include a mix of Greek and Turkish specialties. The Greek population that lived here in the past grew grapes and olive trees. Wine is still grown on the peninsula and you can visit individual wineries here. Besides olives, the Aegean cuisine offers mezze, hummus, eggplant and lots of fish.
The Cesme Peninsula is popular as a vacation destination, especially among the locals. As in Alacati, the bays and likewise the beaches are quieter, with scattered villages. On the coast, cliffs alternate with fine sandy beaches, for example in the bay of Güvercinlik Köyü, Göklimani, Ilica or Doganbey. Towards the south there are places rich in history and famous archaeological sites, such as Ephesus, Teos, Miletus and Didim.
