The harbor town of Svendborg is located on the Danish island of Flanders. The numerous larger and smaller islands of the Danish Süd Sea with their fjords are easily accessible from here. For a longer stay, the German Baltic Sea coast is an excellent destination.

The Danish port city of Svendborg with its 43,000 inhabitants is the second largest city on Funen after Odense and belongs to the Syddanmark region (Southern Denmark region). It is located on the Svendborgsund and is the terminus of the railroad line from Odense. A road leads over several bridges from here to Langeland via Tåsinge.
The town celebrated its 750th birthday in 2003. In the course of the Danish administrative reform, the new municipality of Svendborg with 417 km² was formed on January 1, 2007 from the old municipality of Svendborg (172.8 km² ) and the old municipalities of Egebjerg and Gudme. The most famous boatyard in the city is Walsted Baadeværft, which specializes in building classic sailing yachts. A cultural history museum, a prehistoric collection, a zoological museum and a private toy museum can be found in the town. The Romanesque Nicolai Church dates from 1220 and is a popular destination in Svendborg. Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), German poet and playwright, lived in a house on Svendborg's Skovsbo Strand during his Danish exile from 1933 to 1939. Here he wrote some of his most important plays, such as "Mother Courage and Her Children" and the "Life of Galileo." The collection of poems "Svendborg Poems" was also written here. After renovation in the early 1990s, the house is now available to artists and scientists for project-related stays.
When Svendborg hosts the Classical Days at the beginning of August and hundreds of classical yachts fill the harbor, there is a special atmosphere in the air. At the town's harbor there is a brand new building with ample and well-equipped showers and toilets. In addition, there are also 2 free internet access points there, through which checking weather reports and e-mails is no problem. Bread rolls are available at the gas station opposite the fish shop on the north pier, or in the nearby supermarket. In addition, all possibilities for supplies are given (among other things, customs office, yacht accessories, sailmaking and other service possibilities).
