Arrival, activities and discoveries for your yacht charter vacation

You can fly directly to Saint Lucia from Germany only in winter season from Frankfurt, usually you change planes in London. You will arrive at the international airport Hewanorra, which is located in the southeast of the island, or from other Caribbean islands at the smaller George Charles north of the capital Castries. Our base, Marina Rodney Bay, is located in the north of the island and you will find a good local infrastructure with various shopping facilities and restaurants. The harbor is also hurricane proof. Just south of it is another yachting center, Marigot Bay, where you will find a good holding anchor and beautiful surroundings.

A highlight of the island is the sight of the landscape as you approach the town of the same name, Soufrière, by boat to the west through Soufrière Bay. Beside it loom the two conical Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also hike up to the top of one of the two inactive volcanoes and enjoy the view over the island and the sea.

At the Soufrière volcano, mud holes bubble and the smell of sulfur springs hits your nose. Visitors can swim in a pool of naturally heated water or take mud baths.

For snorkelers, Anse Chastanet is the place to go, a sheltered cove surrounded by reefs. Other great beaches include Sugar Beach in Soufriere and Sandy Beach in the south of the island, where water sports enthusiasts such as kite and windsurfers will also find good conditions. Divers will find one of the best diving spots in the world, the Jacques Cousteau Underwater Park at Pigeon Island.

St. Lucia is also a good starting point for cruises to the neighboring island of Martinique or to the Grenadines such as St. Vincent, Bequia or Mustique.

St. Lucia hosts the annual Mango Bowl Regatta in November, with races in Rodney Bay. The marina is also the destination for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, also held in November. For two to three weeks, sailors from all over the world let the northeast trade winds carry them 2700 nautical miles from Gran Canaria to St. Lucia.
