Yacht charter Martinique
Martinique is the largest island of the Windward Islands. It belongs to the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea and is located between Dominica and St. Lucia.
In the south of the island is the base Le Marin, one of the largest marinas and sailing center of the Caribbean. Here you will find a large choice of boats for your yacht charter vacation as many big charter companies have their bases here. Moreover, enthusiasts of culinary delicacies will not be disappointed in the port as the level of quality outweighs the price. In the port there are also immigration and customs offices and several restaurants. The marina is an ideal starting point for a 14 day trip in the Windward Islands from Martinique to the Grenadines.
The marina is located in the bay of the same name, Le Marin, where the French founded the first settlements on the island after their arrival. From 1766 in the village is still very well preserved church Saint-Étienne. The wooden ceiling in the interior is reminiscent of an inverted boat keel. The magnificent marble altar with its statuettes is also worth seeing.
If you drive a short distance north out of the bay, you will find the Écomusée de Martinique in an old distillery. It interestingly presents the history of the indigenous peoples as well as the colonial rule up to industrialization. Directly in front of the museum there is a beautiful sandy beach, which is also suitable for families. It is protected in the bay, the water is calm and palm trees provide shade.
More about entry, language, currency and sights around the island you will find on our country page Martinique.
