Lying on the beach or taking a walk and seeing the snow on the Pico del Teide - Tenerife offers mild temperatures all year round on the coast and in the center of the Canary Islands a good starting point to the western green islands. The Teide National Park is ideal for hiking, the second largest city in the Canary Islands, Santa Cruz, offers shopping and nightlife, historical sites and museums show the life of the former indigenous people, the Guanches, and it is not far to the neighboring islands to the west, La Gomera and La Palma, while Gran Canaria is a similar distance to the east. The starting ports on Tenerife are Radazul and Las Galletas.

Climate: subtropical with temperatures between 17 and 30 degrees
Winds: Northeast trade winds
Sailing season: all year round

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and is located in the center of the archipelago. From our yacht charter harbors Radazul in the north and Las Galletas in the south, you can discover the beauty of the islands, where there are only two seasons: Spring and summer. This means that the Canary Islands are also attractive for sailors when most other areas have a winter break. The strong wind area is not suitable for sailing beginners, but the jet and chop effects between the islands promise sailing fun and a challenge for everyone else. Trips to Tenerife's smaller neighboring islands such as La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro are definitely worthwhile. The latter has ambitious plans: declared a biosphere reserve in 2000, El Hierro is now trying to become completely self-sufficient with renewable energy. In a few years' time, the island will only have electric cars and El Hierro is also developing into an ecological model in other areas. Sailors can therefore look forward to an unspoiled landscape and plenty of natural beauty in the future. On the coasts of Tenerife, on the other hand, mass tourism has left clear architectural traces. But there is also plenty to discover here, especially the Teide National Park in the interior of the island is a natural experience with its crater landscapes and mountainous region. Hiking boots are therefore a must for a Canary Islands yacht charter vacation, as the archipelago is of volcanic origin and therefore mountainous.

In the capital Santa Cruz, there are many historical buildings to discover as well as various shopping districts for shopping and eating out. In the Museo de Naturaleza y Arqueología, exhibitions provide information on how the Canary Islands were formed, their flora and fauna and the indigenous people (Guanches) who lived on the islands during the conquest. The exhibits also include mummies that were found on the island and their history. The Los Gigantes cliffs in the west of the island, which drop 450 meters into the sea, are also spectacular. In the south and between the island and La Gomera, whales can also be seen, especially pilot whales. Other sights on the island include the old town of Laguna and the botanical gardens in Puerto de la Cruz.

Alternatively, you can also start your trip to the Canary Islands from Gran Canaria or Lanzarote.
