Yacht charter Zeebrugge

Once a fishing village, Zeebrugge developed into one of the most modern ports in Europe. Since many container ships and ferries also call here, the sailing out is less relaxed and picturesque than at other marinas. But the city is part of charming Bruges, the "Venice of the North". You can reach it from here by public transportation, or you can just stop here on your way out. It is one of the best preserved medieval cities and was one of the most important trading cities in Europe. It is also the birthplace of the stock exchange. For it was here that the rising bourgeoisie ruled and also immortalized itself in architecture, art and culture. The Grote Markt is the center of the city with the highest building in the city, the Belfry, which even no church was allowed to tower over and from which there is a good view over the city. In the Basilica of the Holy Blood there is a special relic, a vial with the blood of Jesus. The old core is surrounded by ramparts, where you can walk and where there are also several windmills. The city is crisscrossed by small canals that meander between splendid town houses and on which guided boat tours bring the history of the city closer. There are several art museums featuring the works of Flemish masters from various centuries, as well as special themed museums such as the Sint-Janshospitaal Hospital Museum and the Chocolate Museum.

From the medieval city of Bruges to the long sandy beaches of Belgium and northern France with a yacht charter Zeebrugge

Starting west along the coast of Belgium you will encounter seaside resorts and port towns with long sandy beaches. Blankenberge has a nice city center for strolling. Oostende is mainly known as a seaside resort and has an entertainment district with many restaurants. Also on the beach promenade there are restaurants as well as cafes. Further it can go from here, for example, to northern France, the first port after the border is in Dunkirk. If you have the right equipment and are an experienced sailor, you can also continue your trip across the English Channel to England, for example to Portsmouth or Southampton. Alternatively, you can also start from the base Nieuwpoort in the west of Belgium.

To the east, the fashionable seaside resort of Knokke-Heist is directly adjacent. Further east, via a passage, Westerschelde, into the interior, you reach the still Belgian city of Antwerp, with the largest port in the country. Accordingly, here you also meet container ships and ferries. However, not only the ship traffic, but also the current conditions make the journey in the passage challenging. However, with its Art Nouveau villas and medieval castles, the city also has beautiful historical architecture to offer, and you will find countless cafes and bars to linger in. In the Rubens House there are exhibitions of works by the famous painter who was based here. From here, the cruise can continue along the Dutch coast, for example to the more sheltered Veerse Meer or Oosterschelde, which are popular water sports areas.
