In the middle of the Cyclades lies the island of Paros. If Mykonos has too much hustle and bustle, you will find a little more peace and quiet here, but a similar range of activities. From here it is only a short way to the largest island Naxos and also the smaller islands west of Paros are worth a visit. Beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts get their money's worth here. Since the Meltemi blows stronger in the Cyclades, the area is more suitable for experienced sailors. Less experienced sailors will find easier conditions in the Saronic Gulf from Athens or also in the Ionian Islands.

The island Paros belongs to the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. Unlike Mykonos in the northeast, Paros is not crowded by tourists. Therefore it is a little bit more quiet here, but the island has a lot to offer. In the main town of Parikia you will find a lively boutique, café and bar scene. In the harbor there is a lot of traffic, because Paros is a hub for ferries to the other islands of the Cyclades.
Paros is known for its special marble, which was once exported from the island and helped it to prosperity. The Venus of Milo, for example, is made of marble that originated here, and the temple complexes of Delos near Mykonos. In the Panagia Ekatontapyliani, a church dating back to the 4th century A.D. and one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades, you can admire this marble and have the history of the island shown to you in the Archaeological Museum. On the island there are some monasteries and picturesque fishing villages like Naoussa.
Water sports enthusiasts will find snorkeling opportunities in Monastiri and good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Santa Maria and also in Pounta on the west coast. "Golden" sand is promised by the name of a beach in the southeast of the island: Hrysi Akti.

More hustle and bustle and nightlife can be found to the north on Mykonos, while those looking for even more peace and quiet head straight for the smaller neighboring island of Antiparos. Right next door is also Naxos, the largest island of the Cyclades, with beautiful beaches and small villages.
