Yacht charter Trapani

The city of Trapani is located in the extreme west of Sicily at the foot of Mount Erice. Off the coast of the city in the Strait of Sicily runs the border between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, which is why it is also called Città tra due mari, city between two seas. The port plays an important role for Trapani, because from here ships leave for Tunis, Pantelleria, Sardinia, Civitavecchia (Rome) and the Egadi Islands. Worth seeing in the city are the Castello della Colombaia, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Basilica of Maria Santissima Annunziata. In Trapani, coral processing has a long tradition. In the Museo Pepoli you can see the artistic skills that have developed through it.

Trapani, like Marsala, is known for its salt production. In the region between the two cities there is a landscape of salt basins, here and there windmills stick out to pump the water from the basins. A museum provides information about the use of the basins and the history of salt production, which has existed since the Phoenicians.

The city and the region of Sicily are also exciting from a culinary point of view, as Italian, Sicilian and Arabic cuisine meet here. Wild coast can be experienced in the nature park Lo Zingaro near San Vito Lo Capo, where you also find beautiful beaches.

Relax with a yacht charter Trapani in the Aegadian Islands

Just like from Marsala, the Aegadian Islands are not far from Trapani. They include Favignana, the largest island and the one with the most inhabitants, Marettimo and Levanzo and some smaller uninhabited islands. The islands have been inhabited for a long time, so on Favignana and Levanzo there are paintings and incised drawings from the Stone Age in caves. Favignana has more of a rocky coast with few sandy beaches, but still invites you to swim and is ideal for diving, because the water has created many grottos and caves. Hiking is also good on the island. Besides corals and salt, tuna fishing plays a big role in the region. A museum on Favignana informs about the traditional fishing method, which is no longer used today.

Whoever is drawn further and has more time, can also include the island of Pantelleria, which is already close to Tunis, but still belongs to Trapani.
