The Northern Sporades in the Aegean Sea are also ideally suited for shorter trips and a varied sailing area: the islands are often only a few nautical miles apart, there is always a beautiful pine-lined anchorage. The eastern islands are part of a national marine park, where divers can find a lively underwater world. The islands also offer many sandy beaches and great nature for swimming and relaxing. Compared to the rest of the area, travelers appreciate the still existing originality and tranquility. Starting points in the area are the island of Skiathos and Volos on the mainland.

The Northern Sporades are a group of islands in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Greece. Together with the Southern Sp orades off the Turkish coast, they form the group of "scattered" islands that line up around the center of the Cyclades. With over 130 islands, there is no chance of boredom, they are very suitable for shorter cruises, so you can experience and discover a lot in a short time. Tourism is concentrated on the four main islands Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos and Skyros. From our base on Skiathos island or Volos on the mainland you can start your cruise.

The Northern Sporades are hilly and green. The eastern islands belong to a marine national park. The most important concern here is the protection of the rare monk seal, but also rare seabird species. Divers will find a lively underwater world with good visibility in clear water and can even discover shipwrecks over a thousand years old. The islands offer a pleasant climate due to the wind.

The islands can be reached in short distances. The Meltemi blows weaker here than in the rest of the Aegean, but the wind can change direction quickly. Between the islands there are jet effects. In spring and early summer the Northern Sporades are also suitable for less experienced sailors and families. From Volos you can also find beautiful bays and ports of call in the protected Pagasäischen gulf, not only on the islands, which lie outside of the gulf. This area is also very doable with a week charter.

Skiathos is the tourist center of the archipelago. Stroll through the winding little streets of the main town with its cafes and taverns. The island is already waiting with a lot of sandy beaches and a wider range of leisure activities. From the nunnery Moni Evangelistria there is a great view over the island. Also a visit to the fortress Kastro is worthwhile.

If you like it more lonely, sail further east. On Alonnisos you can visit the traditional fishing village Steni Vala and taste the local wine, for which the island was already known in ancient times. Skopelos is also popular among Greeks as a vacation island, here it is even more traditional than on the other islands. Skyros is the largest island, but few people live here. It is more barren than the others. The main town Chora offers with its alleys and mountain location beautiful strolling opportunities and culturally many historical legacies from different centuries.
