The small town of Zaton is located in the Dalmatia region of Croatia, in a side bay of the Krka River. A trip within the river system already offers undertakings for a relaxing week trip. From Zaton you can also sail outside the channel to the Kornati islands or to the southern islands like Hvar or Vis.

If you follow the river downwards towards the Adriatic Sea you will come to the medieval town of Šibenik. From the many fortifications, which are already visible from the water, you can see what military importance the city already had with the Romans and Venetians. The four fortresses of St. John, Šubićevac, St. Anna and St. Nicholas can also be visited. From St. Anna, there is a beautiful view over the old town. While walking through the Old Town, you should not miss the Cathedral of St. John, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and combines elements of late Gothic and Renaissance. In the Šibenik bay there are shellfish farms, which you can try in the local restaurants. From Šibenik you can now either enter the Adriatic Sea via the Sv. Ante canal or head back upstream towards Skradin. On the way to Skradin, you will pass through the freshwater lake Prukljansko Jezero, which is perfect for a swim. The old town of Skradin is picturesque and it is recommended to visit restaurants with Dalmatian cuisine, characterized by the sea and Mediterranean influences. From Skradin it is not far to the popular Krka National Park. You can explore it on foot or by bike, also boat tours are offered, because you are not allowed to drive your own boat here. The waterfalls are especially impressive: the river plunges down here in over 15 steps in small waterfalls, lined with forests and reeds and interrupted by pools. Above the waterfalls there is also a Franciscan monastery with a museum.
