Luxury yachts also gather here when the jet set meets. The seaside resort has beautiful, long sandy beaches and is surrounded by pine forests. Close by in the Gulf of Follonica is the island of Isolotto dello Sparviero. The island is very popular with divers and several species of birds live here. The only building is a tower from the Middle Ages.

With a yacht charter Punta Ala to the Tuscan Archipelago

A highlight from Punta Ala is the Tuscan Archipelago. Here is the largest marine protected area in Europe and it was declared one of the most important natural wonders of the world. The beauty of the islands is also mentioned in a legend, according to which Venus lost pearls from her necklace when she came out of the sea. These pearls are the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. These islands include Elba, Montecristo, Pianosa, Capraia, Gorgona, Giannutri and Giglio, as well as other smaller islands and rocks. Each island has its own face: Pianosa, the smallest of the seven islands is flat, characterized by limestone, while Capraia, because of its volcanic origin, is more lava rock. The latter is also attractive for diving and snorkeling, and with a little luck you can also see whales and dolphins here. The island of Giglio also has a diverse underwater world with lobsters, moray eels and tuna. Giannutri is made of limestone and in the coast the water has washed out and formed caves and grottos. Divers can discover here the Anna Bianca shipwreck. Land lovers can visit the ruins of a Roman villa. Montecristo, made famous by Alexandre Dumas' novel, juts ruggedly out of the sea, not for nothing was it used as a prison island for a long time. Gorgona is even today a prison island, a penal colony that can be visited only with permission. The largest island, Elba, offers not only many beaches and bays and a flourishing nature, but also cultural sights, from the Palazzina dei Mulini, the residence of Napoleon Bonaparte, to the fortifications of Portoferraio and the former mines of the island.
