The coast on the Ligurian Sea in northwest Italy offers many opportunities for bathing and sunbathing as well as for enjoyable vacations. West of Genoa, the capital of Liguria, the Riviera di Ponente with its flower fields and sandy beaches stretches to the French border. From our bases on the Ligurian Sea, both the Italian and French Rivieras can be combined in one trip and the Principality of Monaco can be visited. Öst of Genoa lies the rockier Riviera di Levante with scenically very beautiful coasts, such as the Cinque Terre, and some natural parks. If you don't want to stay only at the mainland coast and have more time, you can also go on a yacht charter Ligurian Sea to Corsica, to the Tuscan Archipelago with the island of Elba or to other destinations in the western Mediterranean.

Climate: Mediterranean with temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees
. Winds: Tramontana, Libeccio
Sailing season: May to October

Yacht charter Ligurian Sea

The Ligurian Sea is a part of the Mediterranean Sea and lies between Corsica and the northern coast of Italy. In the southeast it is joined by the Tyrrhenian Sea. A yacht charter Ligurian Sea offers the possibility to sail from bases like Genoa and Sanremo at the coast of the Italian Riviera to beyond Monaco to France at the Côte d'Azur.

The area is also suitable for sailors with less experience in the main season. Here the marinas are close to each other, so that a port can always be reached within short distances. The Libeccio can be stronger from the southwest in the low season.

Two-country cruise in France and Italy from the Italian Riviera

Sanremo is located near the French border on the Riviera die Fiori, the Riviera of Flowers. Accordingly, one encounters blooming coastlines with fine sandy beaches and pretty villages with flower markets. A cruise to the west will not only include this part of the Riviera di Ponente, but also the Principality of Monaco and the coast of the French Riviera with cities like Nice, Antibes and Cannes.
Our base Loano is located in the middle of another part of the Riviera di Ponente: the Palm Riviera. Here, rocky coasts alternate with sandy beaches that come in different colors. The city of Genoa a bit to the east is worth a visit in itself with its magnificent palazzi.

Sailing along the picturesque coast of Cinque Terre

If you prefer a more relaxed approach to your yacht charter Ligurian Sea and want to start from a smaller town, you can also depart from Lavagna. The town lies not far from the capital of Liguria on the Riviera di Levante. South of it stretches the scenic Cinque Terre coastline with its colorful little villages nestled against the cliffs that drop steeply into the sea.
Cinque Terre is also not far from La Spezia. From here you can also leave for the islands of Corsica or Elba. Closer to the islands is the base Castiglioncello, which already belongs to Tuscany.

Unique in its size in the Mediterranean, the Ligurian Sea is a protected area for marine animals such as whales. In 1999, Italy and France declared it one of the Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance. Therefore, here you can meet one or the other big mammal on your cruise.

Since 1953 the regatta Giraglia Rolex Cup from St. Tropez via Corsica to Genoa/Monaco takes place here.
