Corsica, the „island of beauty“, offers varied and fascinating coastal landscapes: As mountains in the sea with heights inland up to 2700 meters, you sail past steep cliffs in the west and can relax on long, shallow sandy beaches in the east. To the south lies a picturesque backdrop of shining white chalk cliffs, on which the town of Bonifacio is located, which you would think was about to fall into the sea. Here the Strait of Bonifacio connects Corsica with Sardinia. Experienced sailors can transfer to the north coast of the Italian island übersetzen and include an island hopping in the Maddalena Archipelago in the Törn. For longer törns, you can also head to ports of call in the Ligurian Sea or to the Tuscany with the island of Elba.
In spring, the maquis, Corsica's typical scrub forest, is in full bloom and the hiker encounters wild domestic pigs or tame wild boars, depending on your point of view. The Corsican character is closed to the mass tourism with paved beaches, only in the French and Italian school vacations it can be crowded on the fourth largest island of the Mediterranean. A nice sailing destination within France, with the possibility of combining the Törn with Italy.

Yacht charter Corsica
Corsica is next to the Côte d'Azur one of the two most important Mediterranean sailing areas in France. Their character could not be more different: In contrast to the lovely and sophisticated French Riviera, Corsica rises to alpine heights in the island's interior, is buffeted by up to nine different winds and has a correspondingly austere, natural charm. The coasts of Corsica are very different, in the west the rocky coast dominates, while in the east you can also find long sandy beaches. The landscape also includes the Genoese watchtowers, which run in a chain along the coast, always within sight of the nearest one. However, it is the south that is most impressive. The Strait of Bonifacio connects Corsica with Sardinia here. The eponymous place Bonifacio at the southern tip of Corsica is enthroned on white chalk cliffs above the sea and makes an impressive impression.
A yacht charter Corsica offers access to island groups and coastal strips in different seas: the Ligurian Sea in the north, the Tyrrhenian Sea in the east and south and the Western Mediterranean Sea in the west. The area is weather demanding, there can be swells and downdrafts, for example in the Strait of Bonifacio or also on the west coast through the mountains. But it also offers a lot of bays and harbors.
The special things about a yacht charter Corsica
Corsica is not a mass tourism destination and therefore it has kept its own special flair and an unspoiled landscape. The Corsicans maintain their own identity and culture, which includes for example the Corsican language, which can be found on the place name signs as well as in music polyphonic singing, which can be experienced on concerts.
Active vacationers will find beautiful hiking routes in Corsica through the typical scrub forest, the macchia, or chestnut forests at higher altitudes. Here you will also encounter tame wild boars or wild domestic pigs that run around freely and may well lie on the road, so attention is required when driving. If you want to move faster than walking, you can also rent bicycles. Due to its mountainous landscape, Corsica is attractive for climbing, and on the coasts also for surfing due to the wind conditions.
Typical specialties that can be discovered on a yacht charter Corsica are wines, sheep or goat cheese, products made from chestnuts and acorns. There is also a Corsican beer, the Pietra.
Stops and itineraries for your yacht charter Corsica
You can reach Corsica either by car and ferry from Côte d'Azur or Italy or by plane from the airports Calvi and Bastia or Ajaccio and Figari.
With our base in Ajaccio, you can jump right into the life of the capital at the beginning. The most famous personality of the city, Napoleon, can be met here in many places. Propriano is an ideal starting point for those seeking relaxation or an active vacation: a small fishing town with fine sandy beaches and many opportunities for water sports. Not to be missed is the important archaeological site of Filitosa with menhirs from prehistoric times. Both bases are located in the west of the island. From here you can visit Bonifacio in the south, for example. With its impressive location on steep limestone cliffs shaped by water and wind, the place is a highlight of the island. After that you can either join Sardinia or the east coast of Corsica. To explore Cap Corse in the north or the east coast and the Tuscan Archipelago, Macinaggio on the northeast coast is a good starting point. This side of Corsica is protected against westerly winds by the mountains and, in contrast to the west side, has many and long sandy beaches, ideally suited for a beach vacation.
From the south of Corsica you have the possibility as an experienced sailor to cross over to Sardinia. On the north coast there is the Maddalena archipelago with its beautiful beaches as well as the Costa Smeralda with many small bays.
From the north you can sail to the Italian Riviera and head for other bases in the Ligurian Sea. Opposite the east coast is the island of Elba and the Amalfi Coast with its imposing rocky coasts and small colorful towns.
