The island of Murter is located about 40 kilometers southwest of
Zadar. It is only a short walk to the mainland, as it is connected to it by a bridge in the town of Tisno. Already at the time of the Romans the island was populated, at the place of the today's town Murter in the northwest of the island existed in the early imperial time the town Colentum, which was destroyed around the 2nd century AD. The ruins can still be visited today. Behind the town of Murter with its small streets, old stone houses and a multitude of small restaurants, konobas and cafes rises the mountain Vršina. Take your time and walk up, here stands the church of St. Roko and the view that is offered to one here is dreamlike. Look in all directions over the island and the sea and look forward to the upcoming time on your yacht.
The island of Murter has become a sailing center. You can start your trip in one of the three marinas from the island: in the north from the big marina Hramina directly at the place Murter, from Betina only a few kilometers east of it or in the southeast of the island from
Jezera. Jezera has been awarded the "Blue Flower" for several years in a row. A recognition of the Croatian Tourist Board for special commitment in the field of beauty and environmental management.

The Šibenik archipelago
But not only the Kornati islands are easily accessible from Murter, also the southern islands of the
Šibenik archipelago are worth a trip! Until the 20th century
Zlarin was the island of coral divers. The corals were also directly processed into jewelry on the island. Even today you can admire some of these works of art in the Coral Museum.
The small island of Kaprije has so far managed to save itself from the summer tourist rush. Dock in the small town at the harbor and stroll through the picturesque alleys or explore the island on foot and hike over the barren hills from where you can enjoy the view of the surrounding sea. For refreshment and to end the evening, there are several restaurants and konobas in the village.
South of Kaprije lies Žirje. It is the outermost island of the archipelago. This location made it an important defense point in ancient times. Walk across the macchia-covered island and visit the ruins of the fortifications still preserved today, which date back to the 6th century. Along the coast there are many beautiful bays for a stopover, in some of them there are also smaller konobas, in case you don't want to take care of the physical well-being yourself in the evening.
Between the larger islands there are always smaller ones, so that your sailing vacation from Murter is best suited for relaxed island hopping. Alternatively, you can also go city hopping along the Dalmatian coast or combine both.
From here, you can also extend your trip and sail up the
Krka River past
Vodice and
Šibenik. The Krka is navigable for yachts as far as the town of Skradin, which lies at the southwestern end of the Krka National Park. Here you can moor in the marina and visit the park with its famous waterfalls. You can reach it from the marina either by one of the water cabs or on a walk of about 8 kilometers. Not only for nature lovers, a trip to the paradise of the Krka National Park is an extremely impressive experience.
For sailors of all experience levels, Croatia is a guarantee for fulfilling vacations on a sailing yacht. We also offer catamarans for charter here, if you feel like a little more comfort and space.
