Yacht charter Tropea
In the south of Italy at the Costa degli Dei lies our starting point for your yacht charter Tropea. The town itself is situated about 61 m above sea level on a rocky plateau and offers a view up to the volcanoes Stromboli and Etna in good weather. Narrow alleys, an idyllic old town and lots of handicrafts exude southern flair. Tropea's landmark is the pilgrimage church Maria Dell'Isola with its adjacent cactus garden.
Discover Sicily and the tip of Italy's boot with a yacht charter Tropea
From Tropea it is very easy to reach both Sicily and the nearby Lipari Islands. Since 1997, the 20 Lipari Islands, of which only seven are inhabited, have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sicily is the largest Mediterranean island with Palermo as its capital. As in Messina, which is called the gateway to the Italian mainland, a shore excursion is highly recommended in Palermo and Cefalù. In the capital, for example, visit the Teatro Massimo or Palermo Cathedral, which dates back to 1184, and in Cefalù, located west of Messina, probably the most beautiful Norman cathedral, the Cathedral of San Salvatore. But the city is best known for the Rocca di Cefalù. This 270 m high limestone rock lies directly on the beach and protects the bay.
If you are planning a long trip on your yacht charter Tropea, you can sail into the Ionian Sea in the strait between Italy and Calabria, make a short trip to Malta and afterwards explore the east coast of Italy. One of the coastal towns, Crotone, is famous for its Castello di Carlo V, which now houses a museum, and cathedral located in the center. Further north is Taranto. The coast here is breathtaking: fine sandy beaches, turquoise waters, idyllic, and the ancient old town located on a small island. Here you can see the remains of the Doric Temple dating back to 400 BC and the Castello Aragonese built in the 9th century AD. If you are also interested in the Adriatic coast further north, you will find more information on our yacht charter Adriatic page.
