Yacht charter Nea Peramos
A yacht charter Nea Peramos will lead you to the Gulf of Eleusia. The marina is easily accessible via Athens International Airport and a transfer (by train in less than 1h). Moreover, enthusiasts of culinary delicacies will not be disappointed in Nea Peramos as the level of quality outweighs the price. In the immediate vicinity of the marina you will find cafes and restaurants, so that you can spend the rest of the day comfortably ashore after the handover and settling in on your yacht.
Until 2010 Nea Peramos was an independent municipality and was then annexed to nearby Megara. Megara had its wedding in the 6th century BC as the capital of the Doric Megaris and then lost more and more importance. Little of its former glory remains, but the city's archaeological museum offers a good overview of the land at the time of the ancient Greeks. Historically enthusiastic people, however, do not linger long in the city, but sail through the Gulf of Eleusia along the eastern side of the island of Salamina in the direction of Athens. The Acropolis with the Parthenon must be seen. The Acropolis Museum exhibits finds from the Acropolis and the Parthenon and offers a wealth of information. During a stroll through the historic old town around Monastiraki Square, numerous stores invite you to browse. Restaurants, cafes and cozy taverns round out the offerings. Those who prefer it a little quieter, walk through the small streets of the Plaka district, especially in the evening it is extremely sociable here.
Family sailing to the Saronic Islands - places rich in history and cozy bays
Experience a relaxing family cruise in the Saronic Gulf. The islands of Salamis, Aegina, Angistri, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Dokos and the Methana peninsula are not far apart, often even within sight. The sailing conditions in the Saronic Gulf are reliable and the Meltemi has a somewhat weaker effect here than around the Cyclades. The fact that the area is well suited for families and sailing beginners does not at all mean boredom on a cruise around the Saronic Islands.
One of the most famous of the archipelago is Aegina. It is peppered with historical highlights. The late archaic Aphaia temple not far from the main settlement of the island (also Aegina) with the attached excavation museum offers a good overview and insight into the history of the island and the surrounding area. In the small fishing village Perdika it is possible to linger comfortably and breathe some country air in one of the taverns or on the beach. The small and uninhabited island of Moni, opposite the town, invites you to a short hike in the company of wild peacocks and perineal deer or to a relaxing snorkeling stop.
Passing the island of Angistri, still considered an insider tip among individual tourists, famous for its beautiful beaches (Chalikiada, Skala, Skliri) and the lonely bays in the north of the island, you reach in a short stroke the historical city of Epidauros on the mainland of the Peleponnes. Here you can experience the incredible acoustics of Greek amphitheaters. Also impressive is an excursion with snorkel and diving fins into ancient times. Not far from the harbor at Kalymnios beach there is the possibility to snorkel between the remains of an ancient village. Already at a depth of only 1 to 2 meters there are ancient remains of walls and amphorae.
Sail just a short beat to the volcanic peninsula of Methana. Enjoy freshly caught seafood in one of the taverns at the harbor of Vathy or explore the mountainous hinterland on a hike. The island is hardly developed for tourism, in the 60s it was known as a health resort because of its hot sulfur springs, but the thermal baths are now closed and the peninsula with the main town of the same name Methana has fallen into a slumber.
Circling the peninsula, you reach the island of Poros. Stroll through a lemon grove not far from the island's main town, enjoy the crystal clear waters in one of the island's many small bays or relive centuries of history that you can't escape in Greece with a hike to the Doric temple of Poseidon to ask the god of the sea for good conditions on your yacht charter Nea Peramos. In Poros a distinct nightlife has developed along with the tourist development. Not yet as famous as the boisterous nights on Santorini or Mykonos, but a good compensation after a day at sea.
The island of Hydra is located on the border between the Saronic and Argolic gulfs and has been known as a popular vacation destination among jet-setters since the filming of the movie "The Boy on the Dolphin" with Sophia Loren. Especially artists and musicians like Picasso, Chagall, Maria Callas or the Rolling Stones used the quietness of the island, where cars and even bicycles are forbidden, as a source of inspiration. A hike to the oldest settlement on the island, Kiafa, rewards with a view of Hydra town, the mountainous island and the vastness of the sea.
Experienced sailors can also easily reach the Cyclades from Nea Peramos to find a little more challenge in the Meltemi. Syros, Mykonos and Milos are next. Before that, a stopover in Lavrion and the circumnavigation of the Cape of Sounion with the famous Temple of Poseidon is a good idea. Or you can start directly from Milos, Santorini, Paros or Naxos to enjoy a full length cruise in the Cyclades.
