France's Brittany

In northwestern France, you'll encounter a challenging area with tides, currents and the rough Atlantic. But experienced crews will be rewarded in Brittany with rocky coastal panoramas in the north and bays and sandy beaches in the south. Culinary delights include an abundance of seafood, fresh from the market or from the restaurants of the many small fishing villages located here. But it doesn't always have to be Atlantic, in the Gulf of Morbihan there are over 40 small islands to discover, small villages, Stone Age sites and various estuaries. Starting ports are Lorient, La Trinité-sur-Mer and Arzon in the north and La Rochelle in the south.

Spain's Atlantic coast and the winter sailing area of the Canaries

Experienced sailors and outdoor enthusiasts will find access to Spain's Atlantic coast and beautiful Galicia from Vigo. Those who prefer quieter cruising can explore the fjord-like Rías Baixas, which invite hiking and various water sports. Surprisingly, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is also located here in Galicia. Just a short distance south of Vigo, the north of Portugal begins with the beautiful city of Porto.

On the Canary Islands, sailing is possible even in winter. Experienced crews can start from Tenerife, Gran Canaria or Lanzarote and experience the diversity of the islands on one trip, which is much more difficult for landlubbers.

Portugal - Sunbathing and swimming at the Algarve, blue water sailing on the archipelagos

Experienced crews can combine their cruise on the Portuguese Atlantic coast with shore leave in two of Portugal's most beautiful cities. Whether you sail from Porto in the north of the country or from the capital Lisbon, here you can take a breather from the Atlantic with all its amenities. If you want to take a more leisurely stroll on the ship, you can take advantage of inland waterways in Porto on the Rio Douro or in Lisbon on the Rio Sado and take a look at the river landscapes. In the Algarve, families and less experienced sailors will also find their spots, especially on the Sandalgarve in the east. From Lagos or Portimão you can start your bathing and relaxing trip.

If the mainland is too busy for you and you are looking for adventure, you can go blue water sailing around Portugal's archipelagos. From the base in Funchal you can experience the coast of the flower island Madeira with its cliffs and mountain panoramas. The island is easy to explore on hikes and the colorful capital Funchal invites you to linger.
Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts are also in the right place in the Azores. Whale watching, hiking along volcanoes, discovering caves and grottos and swimming in natural pools - there's never a dull moment in the Azores. The mild climate also makes the islands attractive as a year-round destination, but you have to expect rainfall more often than on the other island groups.

Surfing, sailing, hiking and sunbathing on the Cape Verde Islands

The southernmost group of islands are the Cape Verde Islands. They form the independent island nation of Cape Verde, which once belonged to Portugal. As in the Canary Islands, you can continue the sailing season here even in winter. The wind conditions and the open Atlantic make the area attractive for experienced crews. Scenically, the 15 islands have very different characters. In the east, towards the African continent, the islands of Sal and Boa Vista are characterized by dune landscapes and long beaches. They are hotspots for surfers, other water sports enthusiasts, bathers and sun worshippers. Towards the west, the mountainous islands fill with tropical vegetation due to higher humidity and invite for hiking. The cultural center of Mindelo is also located here.

Outdoor adventures on the Lofoten Islands

If you are weather and temperature resistant, the Lofoten Islands will captivate you with their extraordinary landscapes and light moods. From Tromsø or Svolvær you can use the extra long days in summer for extensive coastal explorations and sail the many islands.
